Mountain Skills

Be inspired by our beautiful Lake District surroundings to engage your inner explorer in this outdoor session, and develop skills of orienteering, map reading, mountain safety and team work:

  • Team Game...Gather your team and work together to cross the badger infested, Brockhole bog.
  • Natural Maps...Create your own maps of the local area using only natural materials.
  • Rucksack Rummage... which team can pack the best expedition rucksack to see them through an eventful walk in the mountains. 

Session length: 2 hours

Price: £5.50 per child

*Our sessions are differentiated for KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2

Geography detectives

Become a geography detective and discover why so many visitors come to the Lake District and Brockhole. Find out how we manage them, deal with the issues and look after the area.

Session length: 1.5 hours

Session Price: £110 per class

Brockhole Explorers

Discover what it takes to be a successful explorer in this active three-part session through fun, hands - on learning activities and team work :  

  • Brave the Cave….Discover more about cave explorers and dwellers past and present in our indoor caving experience.
  • Master the Mountain….. and summit safely! What does it take to explore a mountain environment safely? What skills and equipment do you need?
  • Nail the Trail…put your exploring skills to the test and try your hand at the Brockhole Explorers Trail round our extensive grounds and gardens.

Session length : 45 minutes per activity (can be split over lunch)

Session Price: £10 per child
